Classroom Expectations
Class Rules
1. Listen and follow directions 2. Raise your hand before speaking 3. Raise your hand for permission to leave your desk 4. Make Smart choices 5. Keep your dear Teacher happy There are a set of three consequences that apply for breaking the rules. 1. The first consequence is a warning. It could be as simple as a name written on the board or a short verbal warning. This is to get the student back on task and to do so without disrupting the flow of the lesson. 2. The second consequence is separation from the class. The student will be asked to move to an area at the back of the room where there will be less temptation to disrupt the class. While there they won’t be able to participate in the activity or discussion we may be having. I will let the student know when they can rejoin the group or when the student is ready to return to their seat they can raise their hand and acknowledge what rule they broke (usually after 10-15 minutes). 3. The third consequence is stay in Recess Academy to discuss behavior . 4. If behavior persists the student will receive a Minor Infractions Policy on Bullying In our classroom we are committed to providing a safe and inclusive learning environment, free of bullying. We are 5C and a family who look out for one another and celebrate our successes. Any incidences within the classroom or on the schoolyard will be dealt with at the classroom level first. If they continue, school administration and parents will be brought in to resolve the issue. |
Homework Policy
Each morning students will turn in their assigned homework as they begin their morning work. Any student with work that is incomplete will have to sign the homework log and it will be their responsibility to complete it the following night with any new homework that is assigned. If the student does not turn in Homework, it will not receive a grade and cannot be made up. Moreover, students "accountabuddy" will have to stay during recess academy to complete homework and brainstorm ideas as to how not to miss homework. Keep in mind : Class work and projects 50% Homework 10% Tests and quizzes 40% Restroom Policy As grade 5 students, I believe they are responsible enough to choose when they use the restroom. Students are encouraged to use the restroom during recess and lunch. During lessons they must wait (unless it is an emergency) until the independent seat work is assigned. When students leave the room they must take with them the bathroom pass. This ensures that we know who is outside of the classroom as well helps the students to monitor that there is only one boy and girl out at a time. |
